Welcome to Kindergarten at Venerini Academy! This will be an exciting year for your child. He\She will make many new friends and grasp any new learning concepts, while establishing and broadening their foundation for learning.

***ALLERGEN POLICY***

Please note that both Kindergarten classes as well as the Pre-K classes are PEANUT/TREE NUT FREE*** This means that foods containing peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil and any tree nuts such as, but not limited to, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, almonds, etc are strictly prohibited in your child’s classroom, including classroom birthday celebrations. Your cooperation is appreciated with this matter.

The following are answers to many frequently asked questions:

Snow Days: Venerini Academy follows the Worcester Public school schedule for snow days and delays. You may listen to Worcester radio stations, such as WTAG or WORC for updated information.

Morning Drop-off: Please note that Kindergarten class starts at 8:30 AM. However, the drop off for each child begins at 8:15 AM. The drop off area is located at the Elizabeth Street entrance. You also have the option of walking your child to class until you believe that he/she is accustomed to walking alone or with friends. Please drop your child off at the classroom door (not inside). It will make his/her separation easier.

Before/After School Programs: Venerini Academy has before and after school programs. You may choose any time allotment from the following:

¨ Before school: 7:30 AM to 8:15 AM

¨ After school: 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM – sneakers are required

Afternoon Dismissal: Dismissal begins at 2:55 PM. Any child living in Worcester (including Kindergarten students) will be dismissed from the Edward Street car line. All remaining Kindergarten students will be dismissed from the gym door located in the playground.

¨ A note is required each and every time your child is going home with someone other than his/her parent or guardian. I will not release any child without written consent from the parent or guardian. She or He will be sent to the after-school program until we hear from the parent or guardian. If you have a set schedule that your child will be using, for example, going home with a grandparent every MWF, you will only need to provide one note for the year.

Lunch/Snacks: Lunch and snacks are to be provided by the parents. In addition to lunch and morning snack, please note that your child has an afternoon snack time. Venerini Academy offers white and chocolate milk for 60 cents each as well as Gatorade and water for

¨ Birthdays are celebrated in the classroom. You may send a snack, juice box, and napkins for each child in the classroom. Please refer to the allergen policy above. Invitations for personal birthday parties are your own responsibility. We will be happy to distribute them only if all the children in the class are invited- or all boys or all girls. If you wish to invite only a few children, you must do so outside of school.

Physical Education: Physical Education will be held each Wednesday morning. Children are required to have a dry pair of sneakers (white soles) and a Venerini Academy gym outfit. Please note that if your child does not have a dry pair of sneakers, he or she will not be allowed to participate. I find it easier to send in an extra pair of sneakers and leave them at school. Please label your child’s name on his/her clothing, sneakers, and backpacks, as they tend to get lost once the children take them off.

Finally, please let me know if your child has any medical problems, food/environmental allergies, or if there are any custody issues. If I determine that your child is having a problem socially or academically, rest assured that I will contact you immediately by telephone. Otherwise, conferences will be held in December. If you need to set up an appointment to talk to me, I will arrange a time that is convenient for you.

Mrs. Papalilo and I are looking forward to a wonderful year.

Sincerely,

Patricia Trapasso

Because students sit at tables rather than desk, we are asking each parent to pay the cost of a 'seat sack' where children can place their belongings. The sacks will be ordered through the school and will cost you $11.00 to be paid in September. The students will keep them in June.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.
